About Pavia

PAVIA is a probiotics brand that comes from science, not from marketing. What the brand is today started as an uncomfortable question in León, Guanajuato, more than a decade ago: why do we treat feeling unwell as normal, why do we treat illness as something that simply happens to us. That question turned into an innovation project built to address common ailments and chronic conditions through nutrition. Over time Mario Medrano, Guillermo Márquez and Alejandro Velasco came on board, partly for reasons that were very personal cancer, diabetes and hypertension in their own families and the question became a company.

Looking for the most advanced technology in microbiota and probiotics, the founders went all the way to Shanghai. And there they found something they weren't expecting: that one of the most promising innovations in the field was back home in Mexico, at Kurago Biotek. That alliance is where the thing that still holds the brand together came from a platform of live probiotics in biogel, patented and developed here.

The thing about this category is that almost every brand does the same: they put the probiotic in a powder or a capsule and assume it will reach where it needs to, alive. PAVIA decided not to take that for granted. If the microorganisms don't enter the body alive and active, it hardly matters what the label says. So the whole obsession of the brand sits on one point that sounds simple and isn't: that the probiotic arrives alive and stays, colonizing the digestive system.

Hence the biogel. The strains German in origin, chosen for their quality are set into a matrix that mimics the conditions of the intestinal lining, and inside bioreactors they are enriched with the specific nutrients of each formula. What comes out is a protected, live, metabolically active probiotic, made to reach the gut in good shape and do its work there. More than a product, what they designed is an ecosystem. And the brand says it plainly: the one thing they protect at all costs, even when it costs time and money, is that the probiotic arrives alive.

Trying it is actually pretty simple. It's a cold product, it tastes good, it's easy to fold into a routine. The first thing you feel is something refreshing moving from the mouth down the esophagus; it feels light, pleasant from the first contact. According to the brand, the real difference shows up later, over the following hours or days: the body responds feeling lighter, with less discomfort. People who take it say the change is subtle but clear a calmer gut, less bloating, a general sense of balance and that, depending on the person and the formula, it sometimes shows up in energy, mood, skin or mental clarity too.

Behind all the biotech, PAVIA's sensibility is curiously organic. The brand reads the body the way nature reads an ecosystem: everything connected, where the balance of one part ends up affecting the whole. That's the idea the brand is built on caring for health at the source, not at the symptom and it's also what it wants you to feel when you come across it: something serious, backed by real science, but warm and deeply human.

PAVIA connects mostly with people who at some point felt that something in their body wasn't quite at a hundred —fatigue that won't lift, inflammation, stress, digestion that doesn't add up— and who, instead of resigning themselves to it, have the curiosity and the willingness to do something about it. It doesn't work the same way for someone who has made illness part of their identity. It works for someone who understands that part of feeling well is, in the end, a decision.

PAVIA is in a different moment now. After years of refining its technology, validating results and building a community in Mexico, it's looking outward, with the idea of bringing a Mexican innovation with real scientific backing into a much larger conversation about health. But the center is still the same as that first question in León: helping the body go back to doing what it already knows how to do, which is work in balance. Ask the brand what it wants you to understand right away, and the answer is a single word: that it works.
